Agenda

UPDATE:

Due to a sudden change in Russian Ambassador Antonov’s schedule, he has to postpone his talk at SAIS scheduled for Tuesday, March 27. We are sorry for any inconvenience and will be back in touch when a new date is agreed upon.

The European and Eurasian Studies Program (EES) and the Center for Transatlantic Relations cordially invite you to a special forum at the SAIS Washington campus with the Russian Ambassador to the United States, HE Anatoly Antonov, on The State of U.S.-Russia Relations.

With U.S.-Russia relations at an all-time low, Ambassador Antonov will present Russia’s take on what to expect in the years ahead. His presentation offers an opportunity to hear directly from Moscow’s representative to Washington.

Ambassador Anatoly Antonov was born in 1955. He graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR in 1978 and subsequently started his diplomatic career. From 1998 to 2002 he served as the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva.

Ambassador Antonov has held multiple other prestigious positions in the Russian diplomatic service, including the Director of the Department for Security and Disarmament of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004-2011), the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation (2011-2016), and most recently he was the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (2016-2017). On August 21, 2017 he was appointed as the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United States of America by presidential decree. Antonov holds a diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
