Agenda

Twenty-eight years ago, the regime of Saddam Hussein committed one of modern history’s most horrific crimes. The use of chemical weapons to indiscriminately bomb the town of Halabja in the Kurdistan Region killed thousands of innocent men, women and children, and permanently debilitated many more. The incident was one of many genocidal attacks against the Kurds including the disappearances of Failys in the 1970s-80s, murder of thousands of Barzanis in 1983, and the notorious Anfal campaign in 1988.

As we commemorate the victims of the past, the panel will also look ahead and discuss justice, accountability, and the legacy of genocide.

Please join us in commemorating these tragic events and honoring the victims of genocide. There will be a panel discussion, followed by a Q&A.
