Yair Evron is professor emeritus in the Department of Political Science, Tel-Aviv University and a senior research associate at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel-Aviv. He also taught or was research fellow at Sussex, Hebrew, Cornell, Concordia, Harvard, MIT, UCLA , Georgetown and Oxford universities. PhD, London School of Economics. He was co-director of the Project on Security and Arms Control in the Middle East, The American Academy of Arts and Sciences; co-chairman of the International Relations Consortium in Israel; member, the academic advisory board, and board of directors, Jaffe Center for Strategic Studies. One of the world’s leading experts on nuclear and other strategic issues, Dr. Evron has published extensively on issues of nuclear proliferation; nuclear and conventional deterrence in the Middle East; arms control; Arab-Israeli strategic relations; and international security regimes. Publications include: Israel’s Nuclear Dilemma (Routledge and Cornell University Press 1994; new reprint by Routledge); “Nuclear Deterrence Balances: US-USSR, South Asia and the Middle East” in Existential Threats (Lexington Books 2009);” Changes in the International System and their Impact on Proliferation” (INSS 2014); “The International System and the Middle East Regional System: Interactions during the Transition from Bipolarity to Unipolarity” in The Regional Cold Wars in Europe, East Asia and the Middle East (The Woodrow Wilson Center, 2015). Professor Evron is currently working on a book on nuclear and conventional deterrence in the Middle East.
