Maria Tilander is a Visiting Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations. Prior to joining the Center, Maria worked as an assistant to the Managing Partner Sweden at Rud Pedersen Public Affairs and as a desk officer for the municipality of Stockholm with labor market initiatives. During her Master’s program, Maria interned at the Swedish-Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Barcelona. Originally from Sweden, she holds a MA in Political Science from the University of Gothenburg and a BA in European Studies from the University of Oslo.

Maria wrote her Master’s thesis on Sweden’s relationship to NATO and Norway’s relationship to the EU as non-members. She did an exchange semester at the University of Salamanca in Spain where she took classes in International Relations, Spanish History, and Economy. She speaks Swedish, English, Spanish, Norwegian, and some Danish.
