Tina Olteanu is an Austrian Marshall Plan Fellow 2015/2016. She is a post-doc at the Department of Political Science at the University of Vienna, Austria.
During her time at the CTR she will conduct research on the link between political participation, state (re-)action and democracy promotion from a comparative perspective on Western and Eastern European states.
Her previous work deals with various issues of democracy and democratization in new and old democracies of Europe, such as party politics, secularization and corruption but also on the process of European integration. She completed her PhD on “Democracy and Corruption: Austria and Romania compared” and was awarded with the prize for the best dissertation (2011) by the Austrian Political Science Association (ÖGPW).

Olteanu studied East European Studies in Berlin and Bucharest and was a researcher at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. She has taught at the FernUniversität in Hagen, at the University of Bucharest, Romania, at the Alpen-Adria University in Klagenfurt and at the University of Vienna, Austria. She was also a visiting scholar at the Europe Center at Stanford University.
