His Excellency Manuel Sager was appointed Ambassador of Switzerland to the United States of America in October 2010. Previously, he headed the Political Affairs Division in the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) responsible for coordinating thematic foreign policy from 2008–10 and worked as Executive Director at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London from 2005–08. Between 2001 and 2005, he served as Head of Communications, first in the FDFA and then in the Federal Department of Economic Affairs. He holds a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Zurich and an LL.M. from Duke University Law School.
